Almost like having my own waiting room

eclectic-mag-mix.JPG
I’d like to think my taste in periodicals is this eclectic, but it isn’t quite. Two of these are on my regular reading list. One was a free sample copy I signed up for online and the other had an article that intrigued me, so I bought a single copy.

An imaginary prize for the first commenter to correctly identify which magazines fit which statement.

I’ll eliminate the nonguess and guess the regular read is JPG. My guess is based on the cover articles on the remaining 2.

Since I’ve got a jump due to the nonguess, don’t feel obligated to foot the bill for more than 1/2 an imaginary prize if I’m right. It’s more fun to guess than to win

The Economist & Harper’s are regular reads
JPG was the free sign-up
and
Paste had the interesting article

Paste often has free copies, so I’m guessing that that was the free sign up. I think JPG and the Economist are the regular reads and you bought Harper’s because the article about Parties of God.

There have been two correct guesses so far (won’t say who had it), which suggests I’m more of a mystery than I previously thought I was.

(Here’s a little hint: Ellen, you should have gone with the “unguess.”)

JPG and Paste are regular reads.
Economist is the online freebie.
Harper’s was the one time shot.

OK, I’ll try. I think Paste is a regular read. (Aren’t you always getting their music samples or is that an online thing?) Also guessing Harper’s as a regular read. JPG sounds like a sample and the Economist sounds too painfully dull to be anything other than a one article deal.

Since my guess was off I’m putting my $ on Melissa’s guess. I have read the Economist – one of my bud’s is a subscriber and kicked back his old copies to me. To put things neutrally – not for the faint of heart – and they knew it. I highly DOUBT they’d try to bring in nonsubscribers by offerring an online goodie. Plus – the cover is a very local issue. My original guess was the flip of M’s with the other 2, but I tried to keep detail light as I know you subscriber to Paste.

“OK, I’ll try. …”

-how coy, Melissa.

And Ellen, you’ll make out well putting your money on Melissa’s guess, as she just nailed it.

-Sorry, meant to explain. I’ve been reading Harper’s for, oh, about a decade now. Paste is one I discovered a while back, but didn’t take to regular reading until last spring – and yes Melissa, I do love the samplers.

The Economist has an intriguing cover story on “The End of the Cash Era”, which some people might find interesting, and JPG was a free issue I signed up for online a while back – it just arrived last week. (I might actually subscribe to JPG for real, though, so anyone picking it as a regular read was at least right in spirit.)

Yay! I won! What a thrill, I never win anything.

So, I guess I should start imagining my fabulous prize now, huh? ;)

I can only imagine you’re referring to the idea of doling out imaginary prizes – as that’s one of the facets of this little contest I’ve enjoyed the most
;)

you are too humble, but while you are doling out, I’ll take a 1954 Alpha-Romeo BAT 11DK. Thanks Bud
