A monument to pretension?

moleskine-stack.JPG
This is a picture of every Moleskine notebook I’ve used since last spring – well except for one volume I can’t seem to find.

There are folks who think the use of a Moleskine notebook connotes someone desperately trying to seem creative. Me, I just find the hardcover version incredibly durable. And If you’ve ever been prone to leaving your notebook on top of the car as you leave for work, you know why durability is a concern for me.

I don’t even come close to rivaling the number of moleskines you’ve had, but I dearly love the three in my possession (although I do wish the cover on the calendar was a little more rigid).

I don’t know about pretension—it looks like a monument to Moleskine to me. :)

I used to keep notebooks, now I just have scraps of paper lying around with scribbles on them until I can get home to post them on the blog.

I liked the notebooks.

love that shot :)

i love my planner. i use my squared notebook less and less, but still tote it around with me. the hardcover can’t be beat and all imitations come up short.

Marisa – my relationship with the Moleskine hasn’t been a long one, but it has been an intense one. And I share your displeasure with the flimsy construction of the calendar book, though I do use one quite regularly.

Anthony – I went through a phase right after I started using the internets heavily (a few years ago) where I wrote very little except in the virtual world, but I’ve come back to reality a bit since then. And I also like notebooks better. God help all of you if I only ever wrote online
;)

Albert – I only took the shot because there was a thread soliciting Moleskine stacks in the Moleskinerie pool on Flickr. I’d use the planner more if there were more notebook pages in it. Sometimes I go on exhaustively, so the notebooks are essential for me.

Kate has the more flimsy, big, weekly planner, but it fits in her bag so well and she likes the blank right side of the page for her incessant lists. i like the smaller hardcover daily one.

Marisa – maybe try the hardcover one for next year? I highly recommend the pocket daily planner.

Albert, I didn’t know that the smaller planner had a hardcover. That may well be the direction I go next time around.

There is an outfit in Idaho, named Gfeller, that makes the real deal in leather goods for field geeks like geologists….anybody need a belt pouch for their acid bottle or a hip holster for their rock pick? In any event, they are now making leather covers for Moleskine journals.
