This year’s Manhattan day trip

met-museum-of-arch.JPG
The past few years it seems like I only make it to New York City once or twice at best. I love going there, especially with the conveniently-priced NJ Transit option (which beats driving to New York by a nearly infinite margin).

Last week, in addition to satisfying my fixation on Central Park, I finally got around to visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Three hours spent exploring the museum on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and I’m fairly sure I only saw 60 to 70% of the exhibits. Still a lot of fascination to be had. Click here for some photos.

I only get to NYC for special occasions, like concerts or shows. I’ve been to MOMA, but never the MET.
Nice pictures. Looks like you picked a perfect day.

I agree, the train is the deal of the century. I used to white-knuckle the whole trip, but the last couple of times I’ve used the train and the knuckles stayed pink the whole time.

Frank – the weather was spectacular (it was Saturday the 11th). We stopped and rested/napped on the bench right by the little boats. I wouldn’t want to live in Manhattan, but I would love to walk out my front door and be able to be in the midst of Central Park within a few blocks.

Anthony – I still have to see MoMA, and now that I’ve finally seen it, I can’t believe it took me this long to get to the Met.

And I’d probably never get to NYC if not for the $22 round trip fare. White knuckles are mostly reserved for those rare times I’ve had to drive there ;)
