[…] The Smedley Log (Are the Wallflowers still around? They haven’t made headlines in a while, Bob Dylan’s son or no.) […]

Kings X is still around. Awesome band, and Pillow is from an awesome album. One of the best ever, I think.

As I probably mentioned previously, I love it every time they come up on a music shuffle, especially the Dogman material
:)

I saw Kings X at the Tweeter when they opened for Joe Satriani a couple of summers ago. Dug opened the show by proclaiming, “We’re Kings X and we are going to kick your ass!”
And kick they did. Lots of the older stuff and a few new tunes. Later, they were in the concourse signing CDs and I told him I thought that was a cool way to start the show. He said he always feels a little odd about saying it, since it sounds like bravado.
I told him it ain’t bragging if you can do it!

I’m a bit envious, Anthony – I haven’t seen them since the summer of 94, the night after they played at the Woodstock 25th anniversary.

It was at the TLA, they were headlining the evening and that crowd had to be the most eclectic group of people I’ve ever seen in one place. It was a phenomenal show and we even got to talk to them for a little bit outside by the tour bus.

I have to see them again sometime.
