Does this mean they don’t support themselves?

From the December Harper’s Index:

“Rank of Ron Paul among Republican candidates who have received the most in contributions from U.S. service members: 1”

What does it say to you so many of our military people appear to favor the one Republican candidate who unabashedly opposes the decision to invade Iraq?

That we think we have no mission and this is going nowhere! Help us people and get us out of this “quagmire”!

I don’t know much about this Ron Paul character, but it sounds to me as though it’s some sort of cult.
Maybe it’s the two-syllable name or just the inordinate amount of attention he has gathered, but something ain’t right.

I think you’re both correct to an extent, though I’m not sure, Anthony, that it’s not right.

I know a lot of old-fashioned conservatives (though I’m not one) who are profoundly disappointed with what passes for conservatism these days. As I think my brother-in-law mentioned to me last week, Ron Paul is towing the same foreign policy line as W did prior to being elected – that was a true conservative position. The difference is that now Paul is the only one towing that line, and the rest of them have drifted so far from their ideological roots that Paul’s stance now seems completely alien to them.

In that sense (and maybe a few others) Ron Paul is as right as you can get.
