A long time ago, on blogging software far, far away…

The origins of the smedley log can be traced to four years ago today. You may feel free to either pat me on the back or ask me why I haven’t given up on this a long time ago.

In case you’re curious, here is a link to the oldest post on this site, my Black Friday post from 2003.

Wow, 4 years. Congrats, Howard. That’s just great. And many, many more, I hope. I really enjoy your writing and perspective. It makes me smile each time I see a post or poem pop up in my Google Reader.

Cheers, man.

Thanks, Frank. It’s good to be read by people I enjoy reading as well. I wasn’t sure I’d make it this far, and recent months have seen some scarce posting, but I’m glad to see folks are still stopping in.

Congratulations – I wish I could figure out when I started, but I postdated my first post.

Howard, this puts you in the “stud” category of bloggers! Truly, you seem to be such an honest and creative person right from the start. And your comment regarding Bush’s Thanksgiving trip was total class. You are one of my blogging heroes. I know that may seem like hyperbole given I am the equivalent of a deadbeat dad when it comes to visiting my blogroll BUT if you knew me personally you would understand. I am one of those friends you see once in a blue moon and haven’t skipped a beat. Congratulations big guy.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

I’ll admit I’ve been sporadic in my online activity over the past few months, but I’m hoping to be back (or at least closer) to normal come the new year – and that includes getting around to more of the blogs I’ve enjoyed reading over the years.
