Friday Random Ten XXI
(I’ve got a plan to lose it all)

It’s Friday once more. Time for the not-so-secret society of the Random Ten-ers to be called to order (Bob, Fred, Heliologue, Marisa, Mark and Matt—and coming in just under the wire, the lovely Luna. Oh, wait… there’s also Kim. )

    1. Breathing – Jayy Mannon (mp3)
    2. Crazy (Acoustic) – Seal (single B-side)
    3. Here With Me – Dido (No Angel)
    4. The Loser – Switchfoot (Learning to Breathe)
    5. Star Me Kitten – R.E.M. (Automatic for the People)
    6. Plowed – Sponge (Rotting Pinata)
    7. One – Tait (In the Name of Love)
    8. Circle – Sarah McLachlan (Fumbling Towards Ecstasy)
    9. Innocent – Fuel (Something Like Human)
    10. Goes Without Saying – Vigilantes of Love (Audible Sigh)

Statistics and disclosures:

  • Best misheard lyric: From 6
“When I’m lost and I’m found and I can’t touch the ground,
    I married Paula Zahn.”
    (source)
  • Songs I know you can download for free: 1 and 10 (10 comes from PasteMusic.com’s free mp3 collection—from which you can lift an impressive number of tracks, all of them guilt-free, and many of them quite excellent)
  • Quite possibly still my favorite song of all-time, even when covered: 7.
  • Artists I’ve seen in person: 1, 6 & 10

God, I love that Sponge album. It’s the only one I have of theirs, but it’s pretty freaking great in my opinion.

Dido came up on your shuffle this week?! Maybe it’s a Media Player thing.

“One” is the song that got me into U2. Came out when I was in highschool and I couldn’t get enough of it on the radio, so I stole my brother’s copy of Achtung Baby and the rest is history. Tait does a surprisingly good job. Love his vocals. I thought Toby Mac rendition of Mysterious Ways was just a lazy, sucky version of the dance remix.

I have exactly TWO Dido tunes on my computer. I downloaded them a while back. But they don’t come up too often.

I find that there are some pretty prolific artists (at least as far as my media library goes) that rarely get played. But I guess part of randomization is that it has no representative obligations…
