Ahh…my very favorite Sting CD. What a wonderful song. And no, this week you stumped me on the lyric, although I’d guess the Gin Blossoms song.

That’s the Gin Blossoms song. I really miss that album, I have it on cassette in a box of old tapes somewhere in my closet, and I’ve never bought a CD version. Maybe I should bring that box out again?

Friday Random Ten – The “Oh, SpellChecker’s Gonna Have A Field Day With This One” Edition

Time for Friday Random Ten, where you hit shuffle on your favorite digital music player (for me my Windows MediaPlayer at work) and report on the first ten songs that it spits out. Still too busy at work to download

Yes, yes, Melissa, for a stumped girl, you guess well.

And Andrea, New Miserable Experience is one of the finest CD’s in my collection—but I tend to appreciate the Gin Blossoms quite a bit, both because of the scarcity of material and the overall catchiness of the songs they did release.

Ahhh Perfumed Letter. I just started really listening to this. It doesn’t have the immediate appeal to me of Audible Sigh and Dear Life (which is why I haven’t listened to it nearly as much), but it’s really growing on me… a lot of Beatles and Beach Boys elements mixed in with a bit o’ garage thrash. It really is one Bill’s stranger and darker and (therefore) more intriguing works. Tho’ I still say Audible Sigh is, lacking any fully adequate superlatives, an absolute mastepiece and near the top of my First-Listen Favs list.

True, Steve. I don’t listen to Perfumed Letter quite so much as some of Mallonee’s other output. And Audible Sigh probably is the gold standard for him and V.O.L.
