What the deuce?

Can’t think of anything coherent to say, so I’m reduced to animated catch phrases. Except…

Stephen Colbert had local (Philly) radio host (author, columnist, etc.) Michael Smerconish on the other night. It was a little weird—I don’t know if Smerconish was really getting it, or maybe he just didn’t know how to respond to the situation in general. After all, I’m guessing Colbert has a slightly larger audience than any of the cable news shows Smerconish has graced with his presence. (The video is up on Comedy Central’s stash, but I’m not sure if there’s a way to link directly to it.)

Then there’s this. I haven’t yet finalized my tax return (with only ten days to go). I’ve established that the law of diminishing refunds has something to do with that.

The years I’m getting a good refund – I file 1st week in Feb. (and refund usually spent before 3/1). This year, pittance and filed mid-March.

You may be onto something there…

Refunds are baaaaad. Really.

Something about Smerconish really bothers me.

Yeah, I used to listen to him on the radio more. I didn’t agree with him all that often, but I’ve found him more palatable than anything else on the “Big Talker”—and when he was on in the afternoon, he was still better than Eskin (blech), and far more tolerable than Hannity.

I heard him covering for O’Reilly once and I think I had the same thought—that he wasn’t quite comfortable in the situation. Maybe it’s just the way he is. Some of us Bucks County folk get that way sometimes…
